Known Issues

low

IDEX offset calibration

Independent dual extruders require accurate XY offset calibration between the two hotends to avoid layer shifting on multi-material or mirror/copy mode prints.

Mitigation: Run the built-in electrical-contact offset calibration before each major print session, especially after a nozzle swap.

low

No enclosure

J1 is open-frame, unlike most other Snapmaker models. High-warp materials like ABS/ASA are more prone to warping without ambient temperature control.

Mitigation: Consider a DIY enclosure or draft shield for ABS/ASA. PLA/PETG/TPU work well without one.

Filament Compatibility

PLAexcellentStandard filament type for this printer.
PETGgoodPrints well; ensure good bed adhesion prep.
ABSfairOpen frame design makes ABS more prone to warping without an enclosure.
ASAfairSimilar to ABS, benefits from a draft-free environment.
TPUgoodDirect drive extruders help with flexible filaments.
Nylongood300°C nozzle supports nylon; use hardened nozzle for reinforced variants (PA-GF, PA-CF).
PCfair300°C nozzle max is workable but open frame limits high-temp material performance.

Maintenance Tips

Run IDEX offset calibration regularly, especially after nozzle swaps.
Keep both nozzles clean and check for consistent flow between extruders.
Regularly clean the print bed to maintain adhesion quality.
